Vin Santo del Chianti DOC

Name

Chianti DOCG

Description

The old vineyard of Poggio Mori has an interesting biological variability that is the basis of the complexity and expressiveness of this Chianti Riserva. The grapes are harvested by hand when it has reached full maturity and fermentation takes place thanks to the spontaneous yeasts present on the skins The reserve is then left to be refined for a period ranging from 24 to 36 months, during which the wine acquires a fruity and soft taste.

Climate trend

For the Poggio Mori wine, 2014 was a vintage with temperatures below average and heavy rainfall throughout the production season which, while not compromising the correct ripening of the grapes, made it necessary to further refine in the cellar.

Climate trend

For Poggio Mori wine, 2015 is one of the great vintages. The heat was concentrated on the vineyards only during the period of growth, while in August, September, and October the averages fell violently remaining lower than in 2014, an exceptionally cold year. The rains have fallen at times throughout an essentially serene season; water has always been light and intermittent until November.

Description

Wine produced with Bordeaux grape varieties, grown in widely spaced vineyards. The harvest is manual and is carried out only when the full ripeness of the bunch is reached. Fermentation in small vats follows to improve the extraction of noble components from the peel of the berries, without the addition of yeasts, if not the spontaneous ones. The individual grape varieties are aged separately in oak barrels for about a year before being assembled. With a bottle aging of 12-18 months, the wine acquires a well-balanced structure with an elegant complexity of aromas.

Climate trend

2016 was one of the most productive years for the Poggio Mori company. From a meteorological point of view, the season presented itself with temperature above the average and scarce average rainfall especially in the second part of the season, allowing an optimal ripening of the grapes in the vineyard.
